Wekiwa Springs State Park, FL

March 5-6

Wekiwa Springs is located at the base of a grassy hillside used by park visitors for picnicking and recreation. The spring pool is kidney-shaped and walled, and it measures 105 feet in diameter.  The spring pumps out an amazing 42 million gallons of cool fresh water daily! It has a constant temperature of 68-72 degrees.

This is just a pit stop for the night.  Once again, I am pleasantly surprised by another beautiful park with nice amenities. Yesterday was nice, today mostly rain with thunderstorms heading in soon.

The spring bottom is sandy and flat, averaging 5 feet deep, making it popular for family outings. From the spring pool, the clear water flows in a 60-foot-wide spring run through a picturesque floodplain swamp, and is ideal for canoeing and kayaking.

Florida definitely has some of the best State Parks we have seen.  One Park Ranger said if you have only seen the amusements parks, you have not seen Florida.  I know my opinion has changed, there is a lot to see and do here.  Undoubtedly, our biggest regret of this trip will be leaving Florida...still no end in sight of winter back home.  We are thrilled to have missed the 80 inches of snowfall, we picked a good winter to be gone.

Off to see some more friends for the night.
